The Palace of Arts will organize a Regional Jazz Showcase in January 13-15, 2012.

 

The JAZZ SHOWCASE will provide an opportunity for new jazz talents from the Visegrad countries to be presented to the international public and also to jazz professionals, promoters, journalists. We hope to lay foundations for a co-operation in discovering new jazz talent in the V4 countries.

Tim Ries, sax player of Rolling Stones, Grammy-award winner Nicholas Payton, legendary bass player Miroslav Vitous, the Marcin Wasilewski Trio already successful at Sziget Festival and two talented young men from Komárno (Slovakia): 14-years-old drummer David Hodek and guitar player Andreas Varady – only a few examples of the intriguing guests of the Jazz Showcase organized between 13 and 15 January 2012.

The Hungarian band called E.K.Avenue was founded in April, 2009 by young singer Erika Kertész and three great and acknowledged musicians.
At first they played jazz standards and cover songs from the '80-'90s, but as months went by, more and more original songs appeared in their repertoire, written by Erika, arranged by the guys.
In January, 2010 they have recorded their first album, Little Girl. The genre of the 13 originals is hard to categorize, it is the stylish and unique mixture of funky grooves, soulful melodies and jazzy arrangements.

In April there will be an interesting band from Hungary: M.B. & the Friends. The leader is the unique guitar player Miki Birta. The supporting team of internationally well known musicians consists of: István Baló - drums, György Csepregi - saxes and Béla Piri - doublebass. The venue: Sunset Bar.
