Jazz Showcase Budapest
dátum: 13.01.2012 16:00
The Palace of Arts will organize a Regional Jazz Showcase in January 13-15, 2012.
The JAZZ SHOWCASE will provide an opportunity for new jazz talents from the Visegrad countries to be presented to the international public and also to jazz professionals, promoters, journalists. We hope to lay foundations for a co-operation in discovering new jazz talent in the V4 countries.
The main points are: CONCERTS, a PROMOTIONAL CD of the formations in the programme, a JAZZ CAFÉ event, a SEMINAR WITH PANEL DISCUSSIONS covering regional jazz topics, and later FOLLOW-UP CONCERTS.
The Showcase itself will be held in the public areas of the Palace of Arts-Budapest.
During the Showcase every afternoon there will be CONCERTS BY 4 TALENTED YOUNG JAZZ GROUPS – ALTOGETHER 12 CONCERTS. In addition, leading international jazz bands will give concerts in the evening every day.
A SEMINAR WITH PANEL DISCUSSION covering topics related to regional jazz issues will also be held on Saturday, 14th January 2012. Our invited guests will have a chance to meet there the members of Hungarian institutions of jazz education, promoters, and other significant personalities.
Furthermore we would like to offer a meeting point to all the participants by organizing the JAZZ CAFÉ on 14th January. After the seminar it could mean a great opportunity to share and discuss experiences.
Our Slovakian, Czech and Polish partners will help us to invite people from the international jazz scene, by recommending journalists, presenters of jazz programs on radio or television, club owners, festival organizers, educators. Also, they will organize smaller FOLLOW-UP CONCERTS in their countries.
We’ll also ask them to recommend upcoming jazz groups from their own country. We would like to invite bands who have already proven to be great hopes of their country's jazz history. We would like to assemble audio material in advance, and prepare a PROMOTIONAL CD FOR THE SHOWCASE featuring one track from each band.
We sincerely hope that by the end of the third day, all the participants of the Jazz Showcase will gain a better insight of the great hopes of regional jazz. As a result, these young musicians may later have a chance to show themselves on the European jazz scene.
